Greg May Hair Architects was built on a simple idea: hairdressing should feel personal again. Not rushed. Not manufactured. Not one size fits all.
Our Yorkville studio brings together independent artists who share a respect for craftsmanship, individuality and the experience of the person sitting in the chair. The space itself reflects that. Minimal, architectural, uncomplicated. A creative loft where the focus stays exactly where it belongs.
A great haircut isn't judged the day it's created. It's judged by how beautifully it grows.
Every line has intention. Weight, proportion and balance are decided before the first section is taken, and a shape is defined as much by what stays as by what comes off.
Hair should move and live easily. Shapes are refined on dry hair, so the cut answers to how hair actually falls rather than how it behaves under water.
The design must serve the person, not the trend. The result should feel like it belongs to whoever is wearing it. Effortless, and unmistakably theirs.

Greg May has spent his career studying the architecture of hair. Trained in the precision discipline of Vidal Sassoon, his work has grown through decades behind the chair, editorial work, education, and a continuing fascination with international cutting technique.
Today that work combines classic precision with Korean and Japanese-inspired dry cutting and texturizing. Rather than relying on the traditional wet haircut alone, Greg refines his shapes on dry hair, reading the hair as it naturally falls, moves and responds. The result is precise without being rigid. Technical without looking technical.
Don't force the hair into a shape. Understand the hair well enough to reveal the shape that already belongs there.
This studio isn't built around producing identical stylists. Quite the opposite. Everyone here brings their own experience, perspective and specialty. What connects us is a shared respect for the craft.

Trained at Vidal Sassoon and Toni&Guy in London, Alexandre de Paris and Rizo in Madrid, Gabriel brings more than 20 years of fashion and editorial work to the chair. An award-winning stylist and former Aveda educator, he works with what’s already there to bring out movement and shape, and he believes there’s a shade of blonde for everyone.

Book with Gabriel ↗Chris has worked in Yorkville for more than 35 years. He started his career at Holt Renfrew with Jean Louis David and trained in Paris and New York. From there he moved to Icon, then to Glo on Avenue Road, where he worked alongside Greg on the third floor. When Greg opened his first studio of his own on Cumberland, Chris joined him. They've now worked together for over 15 years and are still going strong.
